KS2 Problem Solving
Separate collections for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Each year has 15 sheets, with 10 word problems per sheet and room for working and explanations.
How to use these sheets
- Choose your year, then a sheet from 01 to 15. Start with Sheet 01; later sheets use larger numbers or more demanding reasoning where appropriate.
- Read and plan. Underline the useful information. Decide what you need to find. Draw a picture, bar model or table if it helps.
- Solve and explain. Show your steps and include units. Try without a calculator. You can complete half a sheet at a time.
- Check afterwards. Use the matching worked answers. Correct mistakes and explain what you would change.
Adults can help children read a problem and ask “What do you know?” and “What could you try?” before showing a method.
These are original practice questions. This collection uses Sheet 01–15; it does not use Levels 1–4. Different valid methods are welcome.
